“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver
Your Therapist
I am deeply grateful for the chance to heal and grow alongside each person that I work with. Getting to see my clients become more fully themselves and reclaim their “unshakeable goodness” is truly one of my greatest joys and privileges.
As a holistic psychotherapist and coach, I utilize ideas and techniques from systems theory, depth psychology, nature-therapy, indigenous wisdom traditions, somatic therapies, trauma-informed therapies and evidence based practices to provide an effective and sacred container for the work we do together.
This is rarely easy work, but your health, peace and joy is 1000% worth it. It requires a willingness to be uncomfortable as well as a commitment to doing the work and to keeping consistent daily promises to yourself. If this sounds like you, I am confident that you will see significant change in yourself and the life that you are creating.
Training & Experience
I completed my undergrad degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and later a Master’s degree in International Counseling Psychology from Alliance International University in Mexico City, Mexico.
Living and working in Mexico City was one of the richest and most transformational experiences of my life.
During my time there, I had the privilege of working with clients from indigenous communities, immigrant and refugee populations, LGBTI communities, bi-cultural couples, and expatriate communities. Since returning to Charlotte and becoming a fully licensed psychotherapist (LMFT), I have worked with individuals, couples and adolescents from a diversity of backgrounds.
I am trained in and integrate the following approaches:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Emotionally Focused Therapy
Eco-Therapy/Nature Therapy
Compassionate Inquiry (a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world)
Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy
Solution Focused Therapy
Interpersonal Therapy
Family Systems Therapy
Psychoeducation
Liberation Psychology
The Approach
⋮
My therapeutic approach is based upon the belief that you have a unique and vital gift to offer the world, just by being fully yourself. The work that we do together facilitates the emergence of your authentic, empowered self.
Healing and transformation requires a holistic approach that encompasses not only the mind, but also the body and soul. Together we explore the experiences of trauma or chronic stress that have contributed to the beliefs and patterns keeping you in survival mode. We also look closely at the importance of sleep, movement, nutrition, emotional expression and other keystones of health to encourage a balanced and integrated approach to wellness optimization. We will build a toolkit of practical strategies and techniques that will nourish and empower you, setting you up to navigate life's challenges with energy, openness, heart & courage.
Mudita is a Buddhist (Pali and Sanskrit: मुदित) word meaning to delight in others' joy. It is often translated as “the pleasure that comes from delighting in other people's well-being.”
Like waves in the ocean, each human being is a unique and essential part of the much larger whole. When you start to really wrap your head around this, you begin to make different choices and live your life differently. You become more mindful of what you think, feel and do in the world because you know that it matters, not just to you but to the whole. You start to live as if YOUR LIFE MATTERS. It is truly a gift to walk this path with each of my clients. I pour everything I have into our time together, because I understand how much you matter.
Your life has immeasurable value and your health and well-being are important to me because they are not separate from my own.
